Press for La Doña Cerveceria and it’s patron saint, my piece ‘La Doña”!

La Dona Cerveceria, Minnesota’s first Latino owned brewery, and the piece they commissioned from me, ‘La Dona”, are getting some more press recognition! I was very happy to see these articles in the Star Tribune and in the Northeaster – take a look and then take an in person look at the brewery and my sculpture, if you haven’t already!

What a blast we had Saturday at La Dona Cerveceria’s Grand Opening, and the unveiling of my sculpture! Thanks so much to everyone for coming out and celebrating this big event with me! The place was humming with good music, good beer and food, and good vibrations. And La Dona looked gorgeous and happy in her new home! If you’re looking to spend a wonderful evening surrounded by bright colors, multicultural music, art, and not too mention wonderfully tasty  cerveza on tab, you should absolutely check out La Dona Cerveceria!

Meet La Dona! Grand Opening of La Dona Cerveceria and sculpture unveiling this Saturday, Oct 20!

Drumroll please! This Day of the Dead sculpture that I have been working on, in secrecy, for the last 4 months, was installed today, La Doña Cervecería . When Sergio Manancero, one of the owners, contacted me about this commission in May, I thought „This is almost to cool to be true“. But true it was, it all worked out miraculously, and here she is, looking gorgeous. Thank you SO MUCH, Ina and my dear husband, for all your help, support and advice! This has been a 5 month journey for me and the excellent people of La Dona Cerverceria that entrusted me with this project. I’ve never built, glazed, fired or installed anything this large – much was learned 😊. Thanks so much also to Mark J Lusardi from Continental Clay for all your invaluable advice and support. Couldn’t have done it without any of you! — with Marc Coleman at La Doña Cerveceria.
So please join me this Saturday, Oct 20, to celebrate La Dona and the opening of Minnesota’s first Latino owned brewery! I will say a few words about my piece at 5:30 pm, so if you want to be present for that, make sure and don’t be late!

Northrup King Nights! Please join me for my opening reception at Tres Leches Art in Minneapolis!

Hello friends!
This Saturday you will get another chance to see my new body of work, exploring the many different relationships we have with animals, at Tres Leches Art at the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis. Many ideas, experiences and stories that have recently moved me have flown into these works and  I would love to share that with you. There will also be a few surprise pieces, old and new,  that are not part of this body of work.
My pieces will be shown along new works by Heather M. Cole, Patrick Thomas O’Brien and Barbara Riegel Bend (see the event flyer below). The whole wealth of the Northrup King Building’s artist studios will also be open for you
to explore.
Please come, say hello and make Saturday night beautiful, surrounded by art and supporting artists!

Snapshots form my show opening of ‘A collection of truths’ on June 6th, at Artistry in Bloomington

I had a wonderful opening reception, together with my fellow artist Linda Seebauer Hansen! Thanks so much to everybody who came out, or took a look at the show later. We had many wonderful and insightful conversations, and met friends, old and new, and even some people that I had connected with over Instagram!

If you still want to see the show and also get the chance to talk to the artist(s) directly, there will be an artist talk at the gallery this coming Tuesday, June 26th, at 7pm! Linda and me will answer questions about our artistic inspirations, backgrounds and work processes. I will stay around a bit later and would love to chat with you about my pieces!

Four pieces are sold already, but there is still many available. Please check the ‘available’ section on my website to view some of those pieces – if you don’t see the one you’re looking for, it might be because I don’t have the picture available yet, so don’t hesitate to send me a message and ask.

Please celebrate with me – my biggest milestone yet!

Okay y’all, this is the big one – mark your calendars!!!
My art opening with Linda Seebauer Hansen at Artistry MN is happening today in two weeks!
I will have 13 never shown before pieces, all centered around our relationships with animals. I can’t wait to see how they will look all together in a beautiful gallery, and in combination with Linda’s amazing work. It is the largest body of work I’ve created so far. If you could stop by for the opening reception or the artist talk, that would be most wonderful.

I will get such a kick out of seeing them all together in the beautiful Inez Greenberg Gallery at Artistry – hopefully you as well! My work will be paired with amazing pieces by abstract

Snapshots from the last three months

The year seems to be racing towards winter, and I have been very busy with school starting, and working on pieces for my show next year at Artistry, Bloomington. So it was high time to update my website, and here’s a few significant moments from the past few months.

Me and my piece ‘My Angel’ at this years MN State Fair Fine Arts show. It was wonderful to be back, and ‘My Angel’ also sold as a result – definitely a highlight of my year!

Sketch for a bust titled’ Rebirth’, one of the many pieces I am making for my show at Artistry. Bloomington in June 2018. Stay tuned for more updates on this show – I am working hard to make this an amazing exhibition.

Another highlight was my piece ‘Genovefa’ being selected for Artistry’s 2017 Annuual Member’s Juried Art Exhibition, at Artistry, Bloomington. The show runs through November 17, so there’s still time to see it. I am among many excellent artists! Located at 1800 W Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington, MN 55431

Good to be back, State Fair Fine Arts Show!!!

My piece ‘My angel’ will be part of the 2017 State Fair Fine Arts show! I am very happy about being part of this amazing sampling of Minnesota artists, and sharing my art with thousands of fair goers.
There will be a free preview night at the State Fair Fine Arts Building on Tuesday, August 22nd from 7 to 9:30 pm.
Enter the grounds through gate 0 via Hoyt Avenue, north of the fairgrounds. For directions to the Fine Arts Building (marked red) see map below.
